Istanbul a key point in geography, focal point of the interests of international powers, capital of empires, the only city in the world that belongs to two continents Europe and Asia. This unique position makes it the only city established on two continents where one could make an intercontinental trip on bus. İstanbul, the bustling metropolis of Türkiye, is a city full of charm, where the past goes hand in hand with the present and every step brings to light a relic of times gone by. At the crossroads of two continents - Europe and Asia - this spectacular city has absorbed the best of both worlds. With its beautiful historic landmarks, quintessential cuisine, vibrant nightlife, festivals of art and music, celebration of faith, labyrinths of marketplaces and shopping arcades, the beating heart of İstanbul, and the soul of Bosphorus under the watchful eye of the Maiden's Tower is a traveller's dream.
Three separate empires ruled the world from this powerful capital - the Romans, the Byzantines and the Ottomans. Traces of their presence - in ancient walls magnificent mosques, brilliant palaces - shape Istanbul’s alluring landscape and colour its exotic texture. For more than 3,000 years, this city has been a crossroads of cultures, a rendezvous of East and West. The skyline of Istanbul is shaped and dominated by the domes and minarets of hundreds of mosques. They are concentrated in what is called “ The Old City “ or the Historical Peninsula. The area of the Byzantine capital is still encircled by city walls.
Cappadocia is an extraordinary region, unmatched in the world. A fascinating beauty. An artistic treasure. An incredible harmony of shapes and colours. This amazing region was created by the erosion of the soft layers formed by the lava and ashes sprayed by the volcanic mountains of Erciyes, Hasandağ and Güllüdağ, and shaped by rain, wind, and ice for millions of years. As the landscape was eroded, basalt stones remained and formed conical structures with some reaching as high as 45m. Past cultures have dug into them to create dwellings, castles, and even entire underground cities, used as hiding places by early inhabitants. The local people referred to these unique rock formations as "fairy chimneys", a name that has endured throughout the ages.

In ancient Greek, Bodrum was called Halicarnassus. Halicarnassus was especially famous for housing the Tomb of Mausolus (from where we get the word Mausoleum), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
